Nuclear Medicine Training – Dose Administration

    Dose Administration

The bulk of Nuclear Medicine radioactivity records are a result of Dose Administration to patients.

From one administration, the pot quantity is reduced by the dispensed amount, a syringe record is created, the syringe is disposed of by multiple disposal routes (including updating sharps contents), and a dose administration record is created.

    To record a Dose Administration

    • Open the menu and then select the Nuclear Medicine button in the navigation bar, if not already highlighted.
    • Within the menu, select the Dose Administration menu option. This opens the Dose Administration screen.
    • Select the radiopharmaceutical to be administered. This opens the information panel for the selected item.
    • Select Administer Radiopharmaceutical, located at the bottom of the panel. This opens the Radiopharmaceutical Administration form panel.

The user will be prevented from accessing the Radiopharmaceutical Administration form panel if the item is not located at a designated administration location. It can be moved to a valid location by selecting Move Source at the bottom of the panel, which opens the Move Source form panel. The location can then be adjusted to a valid setting.

The Radiopharmaceutical Administration form panel displays read-only information regarding the source, such as the investigation, source reference and expiry date. The rest of the panel contains input fields regarding the administration.

    • Enter the information as required.
      • Enter the Patient Name.
      • Enter the Patient Number (if required).

      • Optionally, enter the Post Injection/Administration activity.
      • Enter External Site fields if required.
